Come hear Imperial piano and voice students as they perform selections prepared with the help of our fabulous teachers. Students performing must arrive at 2:30. Located at the First Congregational Church, 327 Hamilton Street, Geneva.


Imperial Summer Groups

Under the Direction of Mr. Bazan we have: 

     •     The Jazz Dragons (a more beginner level jazz combo group): A 4-week, 1.5-hour course for beginner students in a combo setting, including a concert. Music will focus on both Jazz and Swing. Students will learn how to play in a small group/combo-style setting. Valuable techniques include, soloing/improvising, blending, listening, musical exchange between other combo members, and development as both a soloist and a musical group player. May require a brief audition for Mr. Bazan if instructor is unfamiliar with student’s ability level.

     •     The Jammin' Jazzers Combo (more advanced students): A 4-week, 1.5-hour course for advanced students in a combo setting, including a concert with CD recording. Music will focus on both Jazz and Swing. Students will learn how to play in a small group/combo-style setting. Valuable techniques include, soloing/improvising, blending, listening, musical exchange between other combo members, and development as both a soloist and a musical group player. May require a brief audition for Mr. Bazan if instructor is unfamiliar with student’s ability level.  

     •     Chamber/Clarinet Ensemble features more classical and chamber music. 

     •     Saxophone Quartet: May be directed by both Mr Bazan and Mr Steve K (both jazz and classical music will be performed). Music will be woodwind selections arranged for a small ensemble, mostly classical pieces. Students will have an opportunity to play in a small group setting with other students of similar ability and develop their musical skills such as: sound and blending, dynamics in a small ensemble setting, preparation of a group of songs designed to culminate with a performance in front of an audience. *The Sax Quartet may have an additional opportunity to perform a half an hour concert in northern Illinois for 500-600 people. 

          Under the direction of Mr. Baldin we will have a Brass Ensemble. Music will be brass selections arranged for a small ensemble, mostly classical pieces. Students will have an opportunity to play in a small group setting with other students of similar ability and develop their musical skills such as: sound and blending, dynamics in a small ensemble setting, preparation of a group of songs designed to culminate with a performance in front of an audience.   



     Class Dates:     Tuition:

     Monday, June 11     Tuition for class and concert: $165.00

     Monday, June 18     Deposit of $40.00 required at sign up.

     Monday, June 25     Registration begins May 1.

     Concert is Friday, June 29 @ 7:00 p.m. 


     Typical times: 9:00 - 10:30 Jazzy Dragons; 11:00 - 12:30 Chamber; 1:00 - 2:30 Jammin' Jazzers.

     Please inquire about times for Sax Quartet and Brass Ensemble. 
     All classes will be during the day with exact times TBD.
